Workshops

I love to share my edtech knowledge with fellow educators and began doing so through workshops in 2008. Below are brief descriptions of my workshops, which vary in length and can be altered to fit your needs. I’m open to designing a presentation or class based on requests as well.

Remote Learning – Organization (1+ hours)
Teachers are collectors. We find great ideas (colleague, workshop, Pinterest) and make them our own. When I see these techniques improve the quality of my instruction and empower and excite students, I know they are keepers! In this one-hour workshop, I’ll share simple ones I have been using with remote learning this school year to help with organization.

Remote Learning – Engagement (1+ hours)
Keeping our students engaged through a screen is certainly a challenge. But we’ve got this! Teachers are creative creatures. Many of the strategies we use in-person with students can also work in the remote environment. In this one-hour workshop, I’ll share simple ones I have been using with remote learning this school year to help with engagement.

Remote Learning – Technology Tips (1+ hours)
Teachers are flexible. Our minds are used to juggling multiple thoughts, and we know how to avoid obstacles or switch course when necessary. Thinking about what might happen during lessons and planning ahead for those curve balls helps us continue with a smooth delivery and maximize the time we have with our students, but also helps students feel calm and supported. In this one-hour workshop, I’ll share simple ideas to help avoid/solve tech issues and enhance instructional delivery in the remote setting.

SMART Boards™ – Beginning Level (1+ days)
During this full-day workshop, you’ll learn the basics of using SMART Board™ technology to enhance your teaching. Teachers with little to no experience designing SMART Notebook™ lessons and utilizing an interactive whiteboard are encouraged to attend. Most of the time will be spent modeling the software applications and sharing technology resources along with guided practice. Participants will be expected to create and share a small project with others. An intermediate level SMART Board™ workshop is also being offered for more advanced users. Please select the workshop that is most appropriate for your skill and comfort level.

SMART Boards™ – Intermediate Level (1+ days)
During this full-day workshop, you’ll learn the advanced features associated with SMART Board™ technology to enhance your teaching. Teachers with average skill in designing SMART Notebook™ lessons and utilizing an interactive whiteboard are encouraged to attend. Instruction will be fast paced with numerous “tricks” for the intermediate level SMART Board™ user. Participants will be given time to practice newly acquired skills and create lessons, which will be shared with others. A beginning level SMART Board™ technology workshop is also being offered for novice users. Please select the workshop that is most appropriate for your skill and comfort level.

SMART Boards™ – Ten Templates for Daily Routines (2+ hours)
During this workshop, you’ll explore ten SMART Notebook™ templates I’ve created to help teachers with daily routines including lunch count, calendar time, learning stations, behavior management, and much more. Teachers of all experience levels designing SMART Notebook™ lessons and utilizing an interactive whiteboard are encouraged to attend. Most of the time will be spent modifying the templates to meet individual needs.

SMART Boards™ – Adding Interactivity to Lessons (2+ hours)
During this workshop, you’ll explore numerous ways to spice up your SMART Notebook™ lessons. Teachers of all experience levels designing SMART Notebook™ lessons and utilizing an interactive whiteboard are encouraged to attend. Most of the time will be spent modifying several templates I’ve created and designing your own pages using the skills taught during the workshop.
